How do I handle this situation without hurting a kids feelings?

Ok so here is the deal. I am an adult gamer. Recently I was playing a game online that did not have audio chat. I was teamed up with a random player and we did well. Like really good. We played a few more matches and damned if we kept winning. The random player asked if I played a particular other game and I in fact did. When he asked me if I wanted to switch to that game, I said sure why not. I had already planned on playing that game anyway, might as well better my odds right? Well, this game does have voice chat and I didn't even think about it. When I joined the party the random player said hey and I immediately realized it was a kid. Nevermind the fact that I have a very foul mouth and I'm sure this kids' parent doesn't want their child being around that kind of language but, I do not feel comfortable in the least playing a video game with a random kid. If it were my own that's understandable. I played one match, made myself die in the beginning, and was like, "Sorry buddy but I died because I had a phone call. I have to go and tend to this." He then said he would invite me later. I blocked him on both platforms to avoid that situation with him again. In the future, if a situation like that occurs, What is the best way to handle that without hurting some random kids' feelings? Gaming is such a diverse world and it's bound to happen again. I have made such phenomenal friends my age through random matches and would like to continue doing so but I'm not willing to hurt someone's feelings by ghosting them when the only issue is they aren't old enough or mature enough to hang out with me. via /r/gaming https://ift.tt/2GA9jWA
