We got really lucky when my parents found our home. Originally it was just a temporary place until I finished high school, I got into an amazing school that set me up for a university. It was one of the few homes that allowed animals and had plenty of property! We chose this house specifically for its seclusion. It was pricy but it was worth it. We ended up saying 5 years and finally we are leaving. My parents to Wyoming and I’ll be in another state. The other kids are grown and living with their own families in other states. We’re currently in our last month, less than 3 weeks left. Boxes are everywhere and the place is an utter mess due to packing. Our landlord has been over nearly every single week in the past month doing random projects whether that mean having a freaking bull dozer in the back taking down what once was our garden at 6am or making his workers and kids cut down perfectly healthy trees. He gives us 3 days in advance... sometimes... other days he’ll just show up randomly with heavy equipment. “Oh I told you a couple weeks ago we’d start this in a few weeks”. Our dogs are going insane watching them walk around the house. None of us can relax on the back porch after a long day at work because they’re all outside working and kicking up dust. He randomly text my parents to say his wife wants to come inside with an architect to view the house and take pictures. We told him no, that no one will be home to let him in and put the dogs away. We have a rescue that is going through training, he was severely abused and doesn’t do well with strangers. They know this. After thinking we got out of that next thing we know his wife is still coming over to take pictures of the outside of the house and ask that we move our cars away from the house so they can get clear pictures... asswipes. They have a talent for being inconvenient. We asked for 2 years to have the bathroom repaired, the sink and shower didn’t work properly and ended up causing water damage. When did they finally decide to have it fixed? The day after my father had surgery. 3 months they worked from 9am-9pm upstairs while my father tried to recover. They knew this. We informed them of the dates well in advance... they didn’t care. We were told when we began rent that there would be gardeners over every week to take care of the outside since it was 20+ acres... that happened once and they killed all my plants. They also told us they would be placing in new carpets upstairs due to the last tenants destruction of them... that never happened. We had them steamed cleared ourself after a year of waiting. The roof constantly leaked when it would rain, that was fixed after 4 years. Any small maintenance issue either myself or my mother fixed. Bigger things, such as the roof, we’d constantly have to bug him or go over his head to the maintenance man (surprise surprise it’s his son). The house has been fumigated 3 times for ants!! 3 times in a year! His wife thinks she’s a designer, she’d randomly show up to fix things or make them look “pretty”. Every time they tore something down outside they’d leave the remnants. When they tore up our back field, it was once all barley, there was nothing but scraps of broken glass and metal bits everywhere. I did my best attempting to clear it but after 2 years I’m still finding left overs.I’m furious! We’ll be gone soon and they suddenly have an interest in the house and fixing things once again after doing nothing for 5 years. They can have it all to themselves soon enough to fix but they seem to think all of it must be done while we still reside. They don’t take no for an answer when we say it isn’t a good time. We recently lost a family member, my mother is a mess, yet our landlord thinks it’s the perfectly time to come on the property with little to no warning to “take pictures”. There’s a whole lot more going on that I won’t even detail. Our power bill is being run up because we’re on the same power grid for his shop next door where the other son plays mechanic all day. Yeah... talk about illegal. Our neighbors are also pissed, they mentioned small claims court and would be happy to have our side as they too have been disturbed by them. Supposedly they have no right to bring their heavy equipment down the main road coming in and our neighbor have told them countless times to take the back road as they disturb the livestock. Honestly we didn’t want to take the route of small claims court we just wanted to get out of here, they can keep the deposit for all we care but at this point they’ve made living here hell.Honestly I don’t know my reasoning for posting this. I think I just want to vent. Sorry if none of this makes sense or just seems fueled by anger, it is. I just can’t imagine what my mother must be going through right now. I’ve seen her cry a lot this month. I’m angry for her and I can no longer stand this excuse for a man our landlord is. via /r/offmychest https://ift.tt/3ctljF3
