Behavior Problems - Help!

Hey all! I am a first time Pre-K teacher (I have 4-5 year olds). I have 10 kiddos all together who are very head strong.I was warned by the other teachers how much of a handful they were, and I just shrugged it off thinking they were burnt out with having them for 2 years. However, these kids are AWFUL at listening and following rules. My director came to me today and said “you need to do a whole week of just following directions and worksheets until you can get their behavior under control” which I really don’t find developmentally appropriate. And honestly, I haven’t thought they’ve been awful lately. This week was kind of a struggle but it’s a full moon so that explains some of it. Not to mention, I just sent out my October newsletter with a brief summary of what we would be learning this month & have all of my lessons already planned and don’t have the time or energy to do a 5th week of planning when I’ve just finished 4 weeks of planning. What are some ways I can incorporate “following direction” activities into my day? We have tried behavior charts, daily rewards, taking away centers they really like, taking away “fun Friday”.. we’ve done time outs, messages to parents. You name it- we have tried it.I guess I’m just really struggling on grasping a theme of “following directions” when even as an adult it sounds boring! via /r/ECEProfessionals https://ift.tt/3jnkxw2
