“Excuse the mess, but our children are making memories.”

Background: BF (40M) and I (33F) went to visit our good friends (37M and 41F) and their kids (8M and 5F) this past weekend. I am not “parent shaming;” the parents work very hard (restaurant industry) to provide for their kids.Ok. The mom put up this sign upon entering their house and saying it’s true is an understatement. We had brought our clappers to watch our sports team with them. My FIL sent them to us from my BF’s home state and are only given at games, so they mean a lot to us.IMMEDIATELY the kids grabbed them and started playing with them. They started pulling on the clappy part and claimed them for themselves. They were playing with them with their feet and grubby hands (little girl wasn’t washing her hands after the restroom due to a cut) and my boyfriend seemed borderline offended when I said I had to sanitize them deeply when we returned. (Our team lost and forget about actually watching the game — little girl kept wanting us to watch her play Roblox)The big problem happened when we were leaving. One clapper was missing. My boyfriend was content with it being missing (they live in another state) while I was mad. My BF has his own nephews and niece that we are NC (no contact) with due to his sisters being horribly toxic, so these kids are the only kids in his life and he prides himself on being the cool CF uncle who spoils then (he’s also the boy’s godfather). I refused to leave until we found it.It was found under a sofa cushion with cookie crumbs on it.Glad I can watch the game today at home with no kids interrupting and being surrounded by toys and slobby little kids. via /r/childfree https://ift.tt/2G06Vsh
