I know off the bat reading the title I sound like an ungrateful bitch but it’s just frustrating. Literally everyone in my town who’s my age and has a license also has a car they can use to drive to school with. Tbh I’ve never felt like my family was too poor up until this point, not once did I think we were rich but I at least thought we were in the mid range of upper middle class and lower middle class but I guess we’re in the lower tier.I just don’t understand how other kids can afford to have a car, like yeah there’s some “rich”(in parentheses bc my version of rich is apparently upper middle class) kids whose parents paid for their car and also their insurance but aside from those people I’m genuinely baffled as to how they have one. Aside from the rich kids there’s the kids who use their sibling’s old car, the ones who use their parents car, and obviously the ones who have a car they put money into and they all baffle me because the parents would’ve had to pay for insurance at one point even if it is your siblings, this might be small minded thinking but how tf does one just have a family car available doesn’t the owner have work or something?, and lastly even if a kid did pay for it how tf did they obtain all that money in such a short amount of time?I have a part time job but with school and sports I can only work once a week and the amount I get paid for that one day only covers about three trips to the gas station and given that my state only lets 16 year olds work and get their learners permit I don’t understand how a kid could save up enough money to not only buy their car but also pay for the insurance and other expenses.I remember when I first got my permit my mom and I discussed what would happen once I could get a car and she said that my mom and dad would probably pay for at least 3/4 of insurance and we’d possibly split the car cost 50/50, but now that I actually have a license my dad said he’d be more willing to completely pay for a car then pay for insurance so now I’m probably never gonna get a car at least until late college. I get they’re probably saving up for college but I’m gonna have to take a loan out anyways plus imo me getting a car makes more sense bc then my sister could use it since I won’t be able to bring it to college anyways. It’s just embarrassing being the only senior at school who has a license but no car available that I drive to school, for god’s sake there’s a good portion of juniors who have a car. As of right now I have to go to school in my moms minivan and go home packed in my sister’s friend’s mom’s car along with my sister, her friend, her friend’s sister, and their mom, idk about you but it’s embarrassing.tldr: All the seniors in my town who have a license also have a car they can use to drive to school with, aside from the fact it’s embarrassing bc I don’t have a car to use I’m also low key baffled at the fact that so many kids have access to a car. I have a part time job so I’m saving up but even then I won’t be able to afford insurance as well as the upkeep of a car(which is what my dad wants, my mom on the other hand understands I can’t afford all of that) via /r/teenagers https://ift.tt/3cIQtZh
