Uhhhhh... weird thoughts... (All Spoilers)

I was just reading this text with Jessy, and I had the weirdest feelings creeping up in me, thinking of something another user pointed out here that had struck me as well. Jake says Hannah is his only family; could be metaphorical, but...What if the reason Phil looked so upset at Jessy is because his mother had actually just told him that he wasn't related to Jessy at all? Jessy says she's got an older half-sister and half-brother... but we don't know that those two are actually related to each other, and we also don't know for absolute sure if he's even her mother's child. What if he was adopted from someone else in Duskwood who had an underage pregnancy? Maybe a childhood friend of Mrs. Hawkins? Maybe someone from the Iris/Jennifer family?Jake says he's not from Duskwood, right? Just like Jessy says that SHE'S not from Duskwood. So, here's what stands out to me...Phil and Jessy's biological father never got along very well, according to her... probably because Jessy's father knew he wasn't Phil's father, and maybe not Angela's either. I can't believe this didn't stand out to me more when I first read it."My mom has always been a bit overstrained with us. And when the breakup happened, that really threw her off." Managing children from different fathers does seem like it would be rough, especially if she was trying to keep the true parentage of one or two of her kids from Jessy's father.Jessy thought Phil shot her an angry look the day their father left... but that makes no sense. What could she have done? The worst she could do is be the product of someone who broke up their parents' marriage... but if he didn't get along with Jessy's dad, why would that matter? Unless he only found out he wasn't related to that family because of Jessy's dad throwing a fit about it and getting Mrs. Hawkins to blurt it out in front of him, making Jessy guilty only by association. And ever afterward, he might have just felt like he didn't belong with those people, which fits with Jake's general standoffish "I'm not a part of them" attitude towards the group, and his suspicion of Jessy (which I always thought was SO WEIRD... Jessy, why?! She's the sweetest person ever, so sincere. Why would he feel that way about an innocent stranger? Childhood trauma, the betrayal of realizing your whole short life was a lie, kind of makes some sense in a way little else does. She "betrayed" him by being an unwitting part of the family that betrayed him. Her parents didn't lie to her, only to him, so she had it better according to a child's logic.)Jake had occurred to me as a possible middle name for Phil...but would also make sense as a birth name. If Jake IS living in Duskwood now, he might have demi-catfished Hannah by using his birth name rather than the "fake" name Jessy's mother gave him. Some strange little part of me wonders now not only whether Phil might be Jake, but if Jake and Hannah are both related to the Man Without a Face. What if she's only alive, while others are dead, because she's his daughter?Man, this latest chapter really provoked a lot of questions and thoughts. My head is swimming a little. I don't fully know what to think. via /r/Duskwood https://ift.tt/3n2vepY
