Help! Ex being investigated for theft while going through a divorce.

I'm looking for any and all information in general because both divorce and a criminal investigation are 2 things I never thought I would deal with. I live in Iowa.The situation: Earlier this year my wife/ex decided that because I am transgender she would no longer like to be married (I don't fault her for this). Before informing me of her intention of divorce she started cheating on me with the 1st of 4 new guys that I know of. Shortly after her affair started she informed me that she wanted a divorce. Fast forward to yesterday evening at 6pm, an hour before I start my weekend work shift, I am served the divorce papers. My parents are providing the income for her lawyer because they are very outspoken about there dislike of me being transgender. Question 1: Where can I find a lawyer to help me with the legal proceedings that doesnt cost a ridiculous amount of money as I have no extra financial help in this situation.Continuing on, I went into work and received a text from my girlfriend at 11pm that the police showed up looking for my ex and wished to speak with me. She was given contact information. I contacted them and they are looking for information on her address which I do not have and informed me she is being investigated for a theft at a local target. Question 2: We have 2 young kids together, What should I do? Question 3: are there things I should do to safeguard myself? Question 4: Is there a way I can find out more information on the situation as she won't explain what is going on?Any and all help is welcome including information I may not have thought to ask about.
