Yes, I worked hard for my score but I never ever would have gotten such a good score if I didn't have the support I have from my parents and their financial support. I am incredibly privileged because my parents are wealthy.Tutoring for the ACT makes such a big difference in what your score will be. Access to materials makes such a big difference. Hard work is supposed to be the "greatest equalizer" but when you have help it really makes that hard work a lot easier.I don't think standardized testing is fair at all. I think the way we allow people admission to college isn't fair either. I can see where my privilege creates a huge disparity between me and my peers.Switch spots with me and you'd get a 35 or better too since my parents basically forced me to do the work. I'm nothing special and I certainly don't deserve a spot at elite colleges more than kids busting their ass with no help.I'm not saying this to virtue signal. It's just something I've found glaringly obvious that many of the people in my tax bracket refuse to acknowledge. Sure it's not impossible to do well on standardized tests if you're not coming from a wealthy family but boy is it much harder. via /r/ACT https://ift.tt/3ikzqOh
