Both parents should be able to support themselves and their children separately in the case of a divorce

I’ve been seeing lots of posts on all my social media about how ‘circumstances’ change and that’s why so many people end up doing it hard, and I totally get that. People lose their job, people get sick, it happens, especially right now.Where I struggle is, couples who decide to have children but never talk about what would happen if they divorce and/or have children when one partner would clearly not be able to support the child on their own. It’s your responsibility to care for that child no matter what and let’s be honest, how many couples do you know that never have any problems during their divorce or with child support?I am by no means bagging parents who choose to stay at home, that’s great. But you should either have a solid job skill/degree before you have children or jump on that quick smart (which can be difficult with kids so before would really be the way to go).My mum was a single parent after my parents divorce and she had stopped going to school to have myself and my sister. She then put herself through school while being a single parent on benefits. She has spoken to me multiple on the subject and the more we chat about it the more it makes sense. via /r/unpopularopinion https://ift.tt/3m2XeZl
