I hate that computer test!!!

I posted a few days ago that I was getting tested for ADHD on Monday. I had to do that computer program where you do all the different little memory games and things like that, and I did ...really well on them? So I didn't get a diagnosis. But all of the things that these games supposedly "tested" are things that I'm actually really bad at when applied in real life. For example, my memory is absolutely terrible. I have to write everything down, dates, instructions from my boss, etc., but I can do fairly well in a short term memory game. I guess I just don't see how it actually applies, like yeah I can do really well at these little games essentially. I talked to a handful of my friends who were diagnosed as adults and none of them had to do this, they just discussed their symptoms with a doctor. Did y'all do this??You can run through a list of symptoms, and I identify with pretty much every single one. Thinking about 90% of the things my parents constantly critiqued me on as a kid (and frankly still do), they're all ADHD symptoms. Things like fidgeting, interrupting, zoning out while they're talking, losing everything, daydreaming... I could go on and on. It's literally a running joke in my family how easily distracted I am, it's honestly ridiculous. My brother was diagnosed when he was 12, I told him I was trying to get diagnosed and he said and I quote, "I thought we already knew that." Multiple other friends with ADHD who have known me since childhood have said similar things, that they thought I was already diagnosed and have thought I have ADHD for years.I guess I'm just really annoyed at the fact that I can do well in a little game and therefore didn't get diagnosed even though all of the symptoms are present and have been present. To be fair, my doctor didn't rule it out completely, but I feel so discouraged. Did y'all do those computer games? Or how did you get diagnosed? Ugh. via /r/adhdwomen https://ift.tt/30H4NMW
