Pardon my English, as it is not my first languageA bit of backstory: My parents got a divorce when I was very young, and have lived mainly with my mom for my whole life (they live an hour's drive apart.) This summer, when I started highschool, I moved to my dad's place and haven't seen my mom since summer break. So I just started my one week fall break, and my mom picks me up by my dad's place (this was on Saturday.) On the car ride home I tell her that I'm meeting with a few friends Monday, and going back to my dad's on Wednesday. She pauses and says she expected me to stay the entire holiday, I tell her I already made plans for Friday, but then she tells me I have to cancel those plans because we have some relatives coming over Thursday to Friday, now, I haven't heard about that at all. I ask if she could just drop me off at a train station Thursday evening of Friday morning so I could meet with both my relatives and my friends. After that she changed subject.Side note: Later that car ride she gave this grand speech about how I could spend my holiday just as I wanted to. (No I'm not kidding)Then Tuesday comes around. I've just gotten home from a friends place, and we made plans to meet up again in 2 weeks time, I tell my mom that. I also ask if she would rather drive me to the train station Thursday evening or Friday morning, knowing fully that she would reject both options. I tell her that I've already made plans that Friday and can't cancel them and insists on her driving me to the station Thursday evening. Then she starts saying we won't see each other until Christmas, I tell her that we would literally see each other in 2 weeks, she then starts making up stories about how my dad is probably stressed out about having to look after me and that I should give him some time alone, and at that point I got angry and just walked away. The stupid thing is we aren't even doing family stuff since my step-siblings are both busy this week, and I'm just feeling like I'm wasting away my much needed holiday on YouTube and reddit. So reddit AITA for not spending my entire holiday with my mother? via /r/AmItheAsshole https://ift.tt/3nN7DtE
