As with a lot of you, I've known since I was very young that I never wanted kids - there are many, many reasons why (tokophobia, eating disorders, mental illness, finding them repulsing, etc.), but one of the big ones is that almost every relationship I've ever seen has deteriorated in some way after having kids.I've seen posts daily on Reddit talking about how an expecting mother is upset because her husband isn't dealing well with her new mood swings; how a father is on the brink of divorce with his wife and she thought having a kid would fix their issues; how so, so many mothers and fathers are reaching their breaking points because their SOs have checked out due to how much work babies take.I've seen this in my personal life too, with moms I know constantly bitching about how they have no time alone with their partners and their kids take up all their time, as if this is some surprise that they didn't know would happen. My parents' relationship died completely after my brother and I were born, and my half-siblings were brought around as a way to try to keep a failing relationship from falling apart. Having this first-hand experience has luckily taught me that children never truly fix anything, and their added stress in a family dynamic never goes well.I have never, ever seen a single relationship that has benefitted from kids. Parents always end up divorcing or distancing themselves over a period of time, and it's sad. Even those who seem happy about having a new baby always turn sour after a few years, behind closed doors.Have you guys noticed this too? With all the pregnancies brought along by Covid, I wish more people looked into this sort of thing before deciding to bring more life into this world. via /r/childfree https://ift.tt/2S6QYTh
